The Lucas Oil Indy Mile AMA Flat Track Grand National returns to Indianapolis bringing the “Crown Jewel” of the American Motorcyclist Association’s oldest and most traditional Pro racing series back to the Racing Capital of the World.

Dating back to pre-World War II, Flat Track is the uniquely American form of motorcycle racing. Riders pitch their machines sideways into the turns, broad sliding side by side, just inches apart from each other. Drafting wars at over 140 mph on the long straights keeps the field close and provides the closest finishes in motorcycle racing.

The legendary race was a staple event at the Indiana State Fair through 1999. The event returns as a Grand National Championship Series points race where riders will compete for a $50,500 purse. This event is part of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s inaugural Red Bull Indianapolis GP weekend. The Red Bull Indianapolis GP will take place the day after the Indy Mile on Sunday, September 14th at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
